A couple of days ago, CrunchGear posted an article about how Apple’s product line is very condensed and simple compared to other tech companies’ offerings.  CrunchGear makes the point that Apple is doing very well despite today’s poor economy, partly because they offer so few products.

I have to say that they’ve made a great point with this article.  Each of Apple’s products fits a certain niche.  It has a simple, easy t remember name that allows a brand to be identified with that specific market.  The biggest of these products is the iPhone. They have their one phone that they focus on and they do it very well.

When you look at their computers, they have 3 laptops.  The MacBook is the smaller, more budget focused machine, the MacBook Pro is for power users, and the Air is an ultra mobile laptop for those on the go.

One market TechCrunch’s article points out is TV’s.  When you go to your local electronics store, how do you choose from that wall of TV’s?  It’s simply overwhelming.  A market I see that is similar to that is the netbook market.  On Asus’ website I counted TWENTY ONE different models of Eee PC.  Each with its own slight variation of numbers and letters.  How in the world can you choose one of those?

In a world where there are just too many choices for different solutions, Apple has given us a intelligible product line that offers everything you really need.  I find that pretty refreshing.
